Travel Search at TechCrunch Party
Posted by Brian Smith at August 16th, 2006

To me, Michael Arrington’s Tech Crunch is all about Web 2.0…whatever Web 2.0 means…seems to change by the hour (although I like how Gartner recently ‘defined’ it).

Anyways, I was surprised to find out that both Farecast and Mobissimo are sponsoring the TechCrunch August Capital Party this Friday (bidding for remaining tix on eBay is up to $300). While these guys fit the Web 2.0 definition for a number of reasons, if I were them, I don’t know if I’d want to be associated with the Web 2.0 trend as so many ‘companies’ in the space don’t have real business plans. Yes, the travel search engines can make money and some are break even or profitable, but why fly with companies that don’t have a clue or a prayer?

My guess is that the TechCrunch party is where it’s at if you want to raise money.
