Talking about flexibility…why don’t high end hotels/resorts offer a ‘flexibility’ service? This would be aimed at clients staying for 5 days or more. A day and a half before departure date, the guest would receive an offer to extend his stay at a steep discount…say 50% off. If the guest is interested, the hotel would check alternative departure dates, times, and prices and re-book your returning flight (and car return, limo service, etc.).
If there’s an open room, the hotel/resort loses money. Booking someone at 50% off (with a low acquisition rate) is definitely better than an empty room.
