Mobissimo’s new itinerary includes India. Today the company announced the launch of its Indian site.
From the Mobissimo blog:
Mobissimo is the first travel search engine to specifically target India, giving Indian consumers direct access to the largest selection and best travel deals available domestically and worldwide.
Mobissimo searches prices directly from 157 different travel suppliers across the world, based on visitors search criteria, and displays them with one simple search. Mobissimos search engine covers more airlines, hotels and car rentals than any other travel site. The companys international focus includes the largest selection of low cost airlines in one convenient location.
Mobissimo.in covers a complete array of travel options in India including local online travel agencies like MakeMyTrip and airlines serving Indian domestic and International markets, like Air France, British Airways, Emirates, Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Singapore Airlines, SpiceJet, and Virgin Atlantic, among others.
Mobissimo has always focused more on international comprehensiveness than competitors like SideStep, Farechase, and Kayak. In my first interview with CEO Beatrice Tarka last year, she said:
Our team has a very international and especially European background. The European travel market is much more fragmented than the US market. In the US, there are only a couple low-cost carriers such as JetBlue, in Europe, there are at least 50, and in Asia, there are 12. When searching for flights to Europe, the major hubs are often sold out, but you can still fly people [to their destinations] with dynamic flight combinations. You can fly into Geneva as opposed to Paris. It’s cheaper and there are more flights available once you look at the low cost carriers.
Ok, so I understand that the international travel market is even more fragmented than the US market and offers a ton more low cost carriers and independent hotels. Mobissimo’s technology seems to be flexible enough to take advantage of the opportunities abroad.
However, I’d like to see some adoption of Mobissimo in the US. The company has told me to look out for partnerships which should spur growth, but I’m still looking.
Maybe Mobissimo isn’t interested in the US market…
